Out of the Box Smarts, is a Women and Black-owned design studio of innovation, ingenuity, and creativity. Dedicated to creating safe spaces for all, the OTBS has prioritized promoting sustainability in building and ADA accessibility. Our goal is to build exceptional projects for artists, contractors, producers, and property owners as we create functional interactions and designs for life.
Our Founder
Tynneal Grant, Artist & Interior Designer
Inspired by the world and the evolution of culture, I've always thought I'd grow up to be an Artist of some kind. I have drawn my best ideas from my travels. As a Black Woman, my vision is to connect with other communities of the world and exchange ideas and designs to create a memorable environment and experience. My 15 years of success as an Interior Designer have shown and taught me many valuable lessons in simplifying processes.
I cultivated Out of the Box Smarts to be a company that creates concepts, sells and rents furniture and unique accessories, allows access to BIPOC art collections, restores/upcycles items for residential & commercial projects, and provides staging. I combined my passion for collecting art, furniture, travel, and community activism into a network of accessibility for clients who desire to create an experience whether it be at home or in a venue. I also deeply support STE(A)M education for black and brown youth. I'm an advocate for education and actively work with communities to support initiatives.
My company prides itself on environmentally conscious and sustainable design concepts. I feel everyone experiences things as a collection of memories and moments and usually, some items become keepsakes that people gravitate to, keeping those moments close and bringing them back to "happy places".
It’s important to have connections to things to stir up emotions in an environment. As much as we collect new luxurious and expensive products, we also source second-hand time and actively reduce waste by reusing everything we can from the scraps after our projects.
Out of the Box Smarts represents ideas that are unconventional, smart, rare, and unique. Creatively thinking beyond the parameters of just what the naked eye can see, and exploring ideas in style and comfort is a substantial part of our process of cultivating an environment meant to leave an impression.
